As the retained digital agency for national blood cancer support charity Leukaemia CARE, we are delighted to have designed and developed a new mobile website to further increase the charity’s digital presence.
The new mobile version of the website, which is optimised for smartphones and tablets, has been built to display the same valuable information as the desktop website, but navigation and information is displayed for quicker accessibility on smaller screen sizes.
Following research into the way people access the charity’s information online, Leukaemia CARE recognised the need to introduce a mobile-friendly version of their website to improve user experience, presenting information and support as patients and carers wanted it.
Matt Lloyd, Director at Ventutec said: ‘Mobile website accessibility is a growing trend. Mobile friendly websites are now recognised within search results and users expect a seamless user experience across multiple devices. Leukaemia CARE’s reaction to the needs of their audience highlights the quality of care and service they provide.”
Whilst the Leukaemia CARE desktop website is ‘responsive’, meaning that the pages automatically resize to the size of the device, users were required to manoeuvre around smaller screens to access the information they wanted. The dedicated mobile version detects users accessing the site on a smartphone or tablet and now displays a specifically designed site. Users can call the 24-hour CARE line, directly from the homepage, as well as find a local support group, request free cancer information, book onto a patient conference, sign up to a fundraising event and make a donation.
Kayla Maryon, Communications Manager at Leukaemia CARE said: “ The new mobile website is part of a broader strategy to expand our online content. The internet is one of the first places many people turn to when they, or a loved one, is diagnosed with a blood cancer.”
